SUMMER BY THE SEA - SCHOOL HOLIDAY ACTIVITIES

Each year during the January school holidays, Coastcare Victoria, in partnership with Parks Victoria, coordinates the delivery of hundreds of free ‘Summer by the Sea’ activities fall along the coastline. This is a great opportunity to discover Victoria’s coastal and marine environments. Victoria’s precious coastal and marine environments support a wide variety of species and habitats.

TROSP WALKS AT WILSONS PROM

TROS is a community project in partnership with Parks Victoria to create a communal meeting place at the site of the current playground at Tidal River.

The walks are generally about an hour and a half and are on tracks at the Prom. Participants are invited to walk at their own pace and can to stop at any time.

There’s so much to love about Italy and the Mirboo North Italian Festa wants to share it all with you! Come and join the fun as Baromi Park and Mirboo North come alive with a festival celebrating all things Italian in a fantastic day of free entertainment for the whole family.

Before the festivities begin, you may like to join us for a celebration of the Feast of St Paul, which commences with an open air mass in Baromi Park commencing at 10.30am, followed by a traditional procession of the Statue through the park just as they do in many villages in Italy. Prom Country Farmers' Market

The Farmer's Market is one of the Prom Coasts' most popular events, and it's not just because of the abundance of local produce!

The Prom Country Farmer's market provides a fantastic meeting place for members of the South Gippsland community. Visit to pick up some freshly caught seafood for dinner or delicious handmade bread for lunch, sample the district's fine wines, chat with the friendly local foodies and don't forget to pick up a jar of delicious preserves to take home with you.

Prom Country Craft Market

Craft markets are held each year between Melbourne Cup weekend (1-5 November) and April at the football grounds in Foster. The markets are a huge support to the communinty, with profits going towards the Foster Rotary club, the Fish Creek JC's and the Toora Lions Club.

A $2 entry fee applies to adults, with kids entry free. Dogs are not permitted.

More than 250 stalls are set up for each market, and there are a huge variety of goods on offer, ranging from local produce, to handmade arts, crafts and furniture, to plants, seedlings and pots, to jewellery and clothing, to children's toys, to pets and farm animals. The kids will love riding around the oval on the miniature train. Stroll around the oval, have a freshly made lunch and take home a bargain or two!

Markets are run on long-weekend Sundays over summer between 8am and 2pm.

Foster and District Show

Held on the 3rd Saturday in February each year, the Foster show is a fantastic, fun-filled family day out and draws visitors from all across Victoria. Watch equestrian events, see the farm animals, play games and enjoy the rides, view the handmade craft displays, taste great show food, watch or join in with the dog trials and pick up some showbags for the kids. Make sure you stay for the Grand Parade!
